Pamela M. Louis-Walden

Pamela M. Louis-Walden is the Chair of the Board of Directors for the Henry Louis Center, and the wife of the late Dean Henry Louis.  She was an English professor and is retired from Kansas City Kansas Community College where she developed the English for Speakers of Other Languages Program in 1982. She became immersed in KCK community cultures and international students' cultures, thus, creating a comfortable social hub for students far from home. She specifically designed a program to attract the Latino population to KCKCC.

Prof. Louis also designed the curriculum for Honors Education and became its Director (1991-2002).  Students won awards in scholarship regionally, nationally, and internationally. In 2002 they were ranked first in the world among two-year colleges in scholarship, leadership, and service to the community by Phi Theta Kappa International Scholarship Society.  Today Pam and her husband, Wayne, work together to maintain the Cooper-Foreman Heirloom and Native (teaching) Gardens at KCKCC, and they both commit to the Henry Louis Center.

Core philosophy: "Every child deserves the opportunity to discover the gifts that lie inside themselves!"
